The church of San Galgano, completed around the end of the 13th century, is one of the best examples of Gothic-Cisterian architecture in Italy. Though this impressive structure no longer has a roof, the acoustics remain incredible. During the summer months, a series of operas are performed there. A yearly Christmas Eve service is also held there. This gorgeous abbey is a short drive from where Fred and I lived in Tuscany.
