So, apparently today is the shortest day (or if you are a pessimist ... tonight is the longest night) of the year. It's the turning point in our earth's calendar.
We should celebrate that our days are getting longer (or nights shorter ;). We should call out to our friends and neighbours and say "Happy New Year" or Happy Solstice or Happy Beginnings.
Anyone in my neck of the woods would be wondering what on earth I am blathering on about given how dismal and dreary it is. But just think - a dismal, dreary day is perfect for this final descent into darkness. Tomorrow? A new day, full of hope and promise and light!
Happy New Year!
