He casteth forth his ice like morsels: Who can stand before his cold? He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth the wind to blow and the waters flow...
Psalms 146: 17-18

Feet planted in the snow...
She braces against the cold.
As the harsh winds blow,
It is hard for her to stay bold!

Tho' birds try to be brave,
Some are destined to die
As they struggle to fly
Out of their snowy grave...

The pretty feathered friends
You've seen thru' my camera lens
Have weathered storms and ice;
While others pay the price..

How grateful birds are for suet
To eat with sunflower seeds..
Winters are tough to get thru' it,
Unless we fill their needs.
Poetry by me, AJP

As you see we had a little snow and the feeder was full of it when we got up this morning but we got it cleared off shortly after I shot this picture..The wind was blowing 40 miles an hour on New Years Day. It almost broke my heart when I saw the expression on this poor female cardinal's face and her sad eyes... I got down on my knees on the same level as the cardinal to shoot this picture....It really impressed on me how much they depend on us as human beings for their survival to make it through the winter.
