And he commanded the steward of his house saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry and put every man's money in his sacks mouth.... Genesis 44: 1
The woodpecker will ne'er lag
To find the suet in the bag.
E'en thru' snow or rainy sleet;
He dealt with all of it today...
But he knows he's got to eat..
For he's the steward of his house.
As much as he can stow away
He'll carry in his bill to mouth...
Poetry by me, AJP
This afternoon we got hit with wind along with rain and then it snowed but I can't complain as we have had an exceptionally mild winter so far.
I did a diptych turning the same picture of the downy with the suet in a mirrored
image...I liked the interesting designs that the suet formed inside of the bag when turned to face the other side and how the Downy formed the letter V when joined together...

A creative creation! I hope our winter remains mild. Spring is only two months away!

Excellent image!! Ours is still hanging, yet a squirrel found it 2 days ago and I shooed him away.

Thank you everyone....Donald, I found out that squirrels prefer sunflower seeds and shelled corn to suet...just from observing a squirrel's demeanor when we hadn't got out there soon enough in the morning to refill the feeder...He twitched his tail in disgust which is what they do when they are angry and then went over to the suet with the attitude, "well if suet is all there is to eat ... so be it"...The minute we got the feeder refilled with what he loves to eat, sunflower seeds and shelled corn... he perked up and left the suet alone...

Funny about the squirrel and having an attitude about having to have suet if that is all there is to eat : ). The birds remind me of conjoined twins. It is a very creative photo!!!

One of my favorite birds! This is so creative and makes a very striking image! Our woodies are very partial to peanuts, but I'll have to try the dried corn and see if they go for it..
