From my 'Chiaroscuro' collection.
In my 'Architecture and Scenic' collection.
As with my previous submission, Guggenheim, I take on another architectural wonder...The Vatican Columns. Again, one of the most photographed structures in the world and again, my challenge was to photograph it in a way it has not been photographed before. Did I succeed?
As always, photographed on film....Tri-X at 1600, Agfa paper, grade 5 filter, processed in Ultra Black developer.

The colonnade of St. Peter by Bernini (1656-67) is made of travertine stone and is the natural completion of the square outside the basilica. Imagination of the architect, the two arms of the colonnade would look like two giant arms of the mother church that welcomes all the faithful. The effect is magnificent and spectacular and is considered the most extraordinary ever built.
The photo does not do justice to the idea of Bernini, however, appreciated the great masses of columns arranged in an arc, the figure that the background you can see through it is the yardstick, and the strong contrast makes us ideally into ancient Rome. Thumbs up. -
