Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

Sometimes I want the freedom of NOT taking the Pentax and all the lenses and gear when I'm on a hike. Gave myself a Christmas Present: Canon Power Shot ELPH 300 HS (12.1 Mexa pixels) with a built in 5X IS zoom lens. It fits in the palm of my hand and my pocket! Here are three of the shots. I think it's a keeper!

This was taken of a fence across the road testing the zoom fully extended. There was a random glow on the iron fence (originally white). Probably photographer error. So, for fun I cropped it down and processed with inverted colour. Otherwise it was a pretty blah shot.
