In a wild bird's church,
A female Downy of the air
Climbs atop a perch
Voicing her words in prayer
Across the trees sanctuary.
Where she serves the Lord,
Not in a sheltered aviary...
But she is nature's ward,
For ever looking upward...

I shot this picture outside of the female Downy Woodpecker climbing the tree and I was taken by how her pretty eyes were directed upward while the twigs around her formed crosses.
