Blessed be his glorious name and let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Psalms 72: 19
We are more apt to see the Baltimore Orioles and rarely do we see the Orchard oriole, consequently was thrilled that one appeared on May 16, 2011, to eat jelly off the bird feeder. Spring is my favorite time of the year to see the migrating colorful birds, which is why I chose this picture for the challenge.
A rare guest
Did its best
To give visibility
Whilst on an olive tree...
The male orchard oriole
Fulfilled his role
Within natures splendor
As God's ambassador,
To bring sweet release
In the name of peace.
Poetry by me, AJP

The photo is excellent, Andrea, I did not know that there was an Orchard Oriole, I have only heard about the Baltimore Oriole. I have never seen either species. I would love to see them someday. In my art class we are working on painting birds and have been paying attention to their feet and legs. This photo gives a perfect shot of the feet, plus the whole bird - lol : )

Donna and Ann you mentioned the sharpness in the legs and feet.I manually stopped down to F/16 as I wanted as much detail as I possibly could get shooting through the window. My ISO was 450 and my shutter speed 1/100 sec. I used my telephoto 300mm lens.. I also used a tripod so there would be no camera shake. I shot this at 9:37 AM on May 16, 2011 and I was able to shoot 7 pictures of it before it got to our feeder..Our Olive tree and the feeder is not far from our window..I will enclose a link to see another shot of
this bird that I posted earlier. -

I've only seen the baltimore orioles, which are very lovely too. The colour of this oriole is incredible and I love how you captured such intricate detail, even his feet are pictured very clearly! What a fantastic capture and entry !!

This photo is absolutely stunning, Andrea. The colors are so rich and beautiful. You captured him perfectly....I have a terrible time with birds. They seem to know when I'm about to push the shutter and that when they make a break for it! :) But your shots are always astounding!!!
