Songkran is celebrated in Thailand as the traditional New Year's Day in mid-April. If you are going to walk the streets of Bangkok during Songkran you have to expect to be drenched in water (symbolic of cleansing and renewal) and covered in a white chalk paste (to ward off evil). I took this shot of one of the Bangkok streets covered in the white chalk paste on 13 April 2011 with my wet Canon EOS 350D camera with a Sigma AF 18-200mm DC OS Zoom lens.
