I had to run outside in a hurry to get a full view of this morning's sunrise.. these were the most amazing sundogs I've ever seen..
Sundogs are interesting.. they're more common than rainbows, which are only seen in warmer weather and are viewed away from the sun.. whereas sundogs can be seen in all seasons, but only when facing the sun. They are like mini rainbows and actually mimic the sun. They are caused by crystals in the air which act like a prism. This morning we had a fast moving ice fog.. and the sundogs disappeared with it, within ten or fifteen minutes.
