The Harvest Classic motorcycle rally is held in Luckenbach, Texas every October. They have vintage and european motorcycles in the show and motorcycle events like the Trials competition, which our son and grandsons compete in. It is interesting to see all of the different motorcycles.

That truly is vintage .....My husband said it was a scooter made in the 1950's... He said it looked like it had a lawn mower engine on it...They were made so differently back then compared to now and it has been around for awhile judging by all of the rust...Excellent entry, Ann...

My husband said that it is a motor scooter, not a motorcycle, so I changed my title.

Great entry Ann. With the price of gas going up each day (10 cents a gallon since yesterday here), we will certainly see a resurgence of scooters and bikes.

Easy to lose a finger in that fan (if it's powerful enough).

super entry. wonder if it still runs.

Ann Reece said (21 Mar 2012):
Gary, I am sure that you are right about that! My husband rides his motorcycle to work more and more to cut down on gas usage.
Leslie, I wouldn't be surprised if that scooter did run. So many of the vintage scooters and motorcycles in the show did run. Our son got to ride one of them, he was so surprised at how easily it moved as it looked very bulky. Wish I had gotten a photo of him riding it! -

What a great find and an amazing picture.
What you have found is in my opinion the greatest American made scooter of all time.
This is a barrel spring Cushman Eagle model 765 made between 1950 and 1954.
This Cushman featured a 5hp.Briggs & Stratton square cast iron motor with a centrifugal clutch and 2 speed trans.
Until this model the luggage rack was an option offered at extra cost but became standard equipment on the Eagle in 1950.
This particular scooter is a 1952 model or later because the floor boards are hinged and can fold up.
Prior to 1952 they were welded in place.
There's nothing as cool as a vintage Cushman !!!
Great photo,thanks for posting it !! -
