Q: I am really into my wildlife photography but cannot afford a super zoom lens, I have a 300mm and am considering a teleconvertor. Has anybody had a experience with these and would you recommend them?

A: Do you know?

American Robin on the post
Flew in from the Gulf coast..
Hopefully he came to tell me
I am here to be with thee...
Poetry by me , AJP

I had just walked outside with my camera about 5:00 tonight and I was startled when this robin flew about 15 feet from me to stand on a post... I was excited to get this close with my 300 mm lens. and was able to shoot a few pictures before it flew away.. I didn't have time to change my manual settings on the camera that I had used earlier in the day, and tried to be as inconspicuous as I could be so that I wouldn't scare it away... It had stayed overcast all day so the lighting had not changed much and it was set on F/ 7.1 with 1/125 shutter speed, at 800 ISO.

A handsome guy!! Nicely done. This must be a young robin...seems like the mature adults are usu. fatter.

Thank you for your comments...Yes, it is a great sign of spring and hopefully now that the robin is here we won't have anymore snow..I saw one crocus
today that had not opened up yet.and the trees are beginning to bud..Donald,
you are probably right that it may have been a young robin...The adults are a
    little more skittish...

Excellent capture, Andrea!!! The lighting is so complimentary on this young looking Robin. I have seen a few around here lately, but couldn't get a shot of them - yet : )
