This is my son Micheal. This is how he usually dresses and I promise you that he is no thug.
I am reserving my opinion on the Trayvon Martin case until all the facts are revealed. History has proven time and time again that looks can fool people. Napolean was a tiny little man but conquered nations. Ted Bundy was able to kill so many women because he looked like a nice guy. How many people were burned at the stake because someone thought they were a witch?
History has also proven that people rush to judgement without knowing all the facts. I don't know what Trayvon Martin was doing that evening nor do I know what was going thru the mind of the man that killed him. I will wait and watch.
Thank you so much for nominating my image Bailey!

Great portrait, and a great sentiment. This seems like one of those situations where the real truth may never be known, with each side insisting the other is wrong. Sad, on all fronts.

i am disappointed in much about this situation. also about the white kid in Kansas City burned by two blacks, and the kid killed this past weekend at mississippi state, another white kid, killed by three blacks. no, they did not wear hoodies and no president obama, said nothing about those cases, and no, al and the rev. did not go and demand justice.
i will leave here and read the news elsewhere. -

Wow! What magnificant lighting in this fantastic photo, Regenia. I love it, and also believe it is one of your very finest!! You're right about judging people by the way they dress. There is much more to consider, mainly how they portray themselves in public by their language, vices (drugs, alcohol, etc.) and at any rate.....it is not for us to judge. That is for God alone! Wonderful, marvelous choice for this theme!!!!!

I agree with your commentary Regenia. We are a herd society that relies on the opinions of others. We don't research, ask questions, or work through opinion logically. I was given a brain. I intend on using it.
Regarding the image and Michael... sensational. I too have a Michael (and a Tommy). Mine is 31. He lives in Vail and dresses like your Michael. My Michael has two degrees and was an English literature major with a minor in poetry before he changed majors from English to Parks and Resource Management. He was a master guide in the western national parks until the government started pulling funds. He went back to school, earned a second degree and will be start a third next year (physician's assistant). Michael is a Renaissance thinker and a gifted musician. Yet one sees none of this when they see him walking down the street.
A picture is worth a thousand prejudices it seems. -
