....He that gathereth not with me scattereth...St. Luke 11: 23

Appointed to stand guard
A wild turkey stood erect
In the neighborhood yard
Her job was to protect.
As her family began to gather
They decided it was time to scatter.
Poetry by me, AJP

My husband and I were just coming out of our driveway this afternoon with our car when we saw some wild turkeys at the neighbors.....It was misting and rainy as I shot this picture...What really caught my attention was the turkey who stood watch behind the others until they ran out of the range of my camera...Then she eventually caught up with them..

I love the procession here. This is a great candid shot, and a perfect example of what intelligent birds they are. I always think turkeys get such a bad rap.

Thank you JanElle for your response...I'll never forget a documentary we saw on PBS about a man who lived with wild turkeys as an experiment..He really
got to know their personalities..and was won over by their intelligence...

Andrea, I have to say LOL because we have several wild turkeys here. They take there time crossing the road. I even saw one on the roof of a home! The big ol' toms are very cool when they strut around.
