The Red Wing Blackbird, males arrive early in spring and set up territories in hayfields/swamps/freshwater wetlands.
Females, are brown with streaks on the belly and a sharp pointed beak, with no full plumage until the third year, set up nest within these territories and make a cup nest of vegetation.
