Maybe I don't read photography books and magazines like Virtual Photography would like me to, but I've taken 4 photography classes, the last one was with Roger Riley. That's him him standing next to another one of his students during our final class, a shoot at Wilcox Park.

10 Steps To Becoming A Better Photographer
by Virtual Photography
Invest In Your Education
I easily read 1 or 2 books per week, along with multiple ezines, magazines and other learning sources. Even if you just added up the books I read, you would come up with a grand total of 52 books per year. Over a 20 year career, that would equal 1040 books I’ve read as I’ve grown my businesses. Add in it all the seminars I’ve attended and the amount of information I’ve accumulated is truly amazing. Yet each piece is of value. Some books I read again and again every year. And I always learn something new because I’m in a different time and place with my business and my life. One piece of information can literally turn yourself and your business around, pointing in you in a new direction. If you want to change your life, change your education habits.
In the Candid Camera Capture photo essay.

Reading is one of those life/survivor skills we need. So Definitely agree with you about reading. There is always something new to learn about the world. Nice series of work on candid moments in photography.

Nice photo, teacher and student at work.
Education is the secret to success in any business or occupation. Law enforcement officers are required to have a certain number of hours of classroom training each year. It is too bad that the administrations always look for the cheapest classes for their officers to attend, not the most beneficial for their officers. -

I've read Susan Sontag's book, On Photography, more times then I can count. It's still brilliant, a seminal piece of work.

Interesting series for the commitment of both, I do not understand the use of only b & w, in a park full of trees and flowers, the color would be a must. Beautiful though!

Interesting that you captured the teacher along with the student, John...Learning is good to expand ones horizons and even though I did take a home course training in Photography, in 1994 to learn the basic which I am grateful for...learning doesn't stop there...In fact it taught me how little I know:)
