A group of trumpeter swans have gathered in this field to feed near one of the lakes they will be nesting on. It was a very windy afternoon and the landings weren't easy..

    Thank you for your favs and comments! .. and yes Richard, indeed we are in the middle of the migratory path for many birds.. but the trumpeter swans do nest on local lakes. Just a footnote: when the trumpeter swan population sunk to about 100 it wasn't until this area was opened up for settlement that they discovered this is where they had found refuge, and they are still coming here but have also expanded their nesting areas with the increased numbers, now in the thousands..
