On our last stop at the local parks along A1A, north of Jenson's Beach, I declared, "I've been down to Florida 10 tens, and I still haven't got any shots of Manatees." And low and behold, we immediately found a spot where several were basking in the sun. Now, that's what I call service--or at least a blessing.

I really love manatees! They are very friendly, and don't seem to be aggressive in any way. This was a wonderful find, James!! I love the sunlight bouncing off them too.....great photo!!

nice shot given how difficult getting a clear shot of those critters is you did a good job. Next time you are down south you should go to the Homasassa Springs park there are underwater viewing areas and above ground ones too and tones of the gentle giants lurking in the waters

A great shot of these gentle giants! Here in Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, they do manatee rehab for some of the many that are injured in boating accidents. Come here sometime if you want some great photo ops. You can also swim with the manatees here.

The stuff of pirate ships and illusive mermaids. The Sirens saw that we were getting in shore and began with their singing. 'Come here,' they sang, 'renowned Ulysses, honour to the Achaean name, and listen to our two voices. No one ever sailed past us without staying to hear the enchanting sweetness of our song- and he who listens will go on his way not only charmed, but wiser. ~ Homer
