Foxy was special.. she placed her trust in me and we developed a special understanding of one another I believe. For the second year she had her young in a building nearby and I used to help her out with food which she always took right over to her babies. In return for the food she gave me some lovely photo ops, images I would never have had a chance to get except for her.
She worked so hard to provide for her kits and when I spotted her body lying on the highway today I was devastated. She now has several babies who await her return, not knowing that will never be. I will continue trying to help them with food and hope that in time instinct will assist them in learning to provide for themselves.

I am so sorry about the death of this fox killed on the highway who was such a good mother to her young...My heart goes out to you..The wildlife really have it tough and I hate to see this happen especially when they have young ones to feed...This is a beautiful image of her..
