This shot was originally meant to show the four cats all sitting alike. Just as I was about to release the shutter, these two kids appeared from the inside and posed for the camera, so I had to reframe and refocus very quickly to avoid losing their expression, so fresh, so natural, so full of genuine joy. All I had on the camera was a 50 mm lens, so they are somewhat hidden at first sight, but I think it makes it even better.
On a more social note, it is very common to find poor, neglected lower class children and young roaming the streets of Buenos Aires. I've noticed that they are always eager to be photographed as soon as they see me holding a camera. I think this shows a strong feeling of being neglected by society, and the fact of being documented lets them reassure their existence to others who do notice them.
