This is really a clever depiction of the "Deadman's Hand" ("aces" and "eights") that Wild Bill Hickock was holding when the cowardly weasel Jack McCall shot him down in cold blood in the Old No. 10 Saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota, in 1876, just two months after Custer bought it at the Little Big Horn. When the family visited Deadwood in 1958, we met an ancient lady who called herself "The Belle of the West." She was 4 years old in 1876, and she told us she remembered Hickock's murder. I wonder . . . Whatever, this is so unique, and captured so perfectly. BB

Thank you so much everyone. Phoenix is such a sweet dog. He was found wandering the streets and turned into Animal Control in Macon. That particular building had to be closed for extermination and there were almost 80 dogs and a bunch of cats that had to be placed or put down. There was only about two weeks to get this accomplished. The media and people on facebook kept reporting and sharing. When I called, there was only one small dog left and Phoenix was it. He had been adopted the previous day but had an accident on the floor and was brought back that morning. I went and picked him up right then and then carried him to my vet. He was fixed, microchipped, and had all his shots. Luckily, he was heartworm negative and started preventative right then. He is now over his surgery and gets his last booster on Tuesday. He will then be available for adoption. I am very happy to report that all the dogs and cats at Macon Animal Control were either adopted or fostered out by individuals or different rescue groups. Many of the larger dogs were transported up north. The internet can be an amazing tool if used for good.
