May 20, 2012, saw the first annular eclipse visible from the United Statesin many years and the last for many years more. The moon travels around the Earth in its orbit at Max. orbital velocity 1.076 (km/s) and at Min. orbital velocity 0.064 (km/s) depending on whether it is approaching Earth in its slightly elliptical orbit, or receding. There will be a total eclipse of the sun in 2017 which will be visible through Oregon. See you there.
