... more than heart could wish...Psalm 73: 7

The primary goal
Of a red squirrel
Is to feed its soul.
This petite girl
Finds all she needs
To fill her belly,
Are sunflower seeds
And a bit of jelly.
With front feet
On the sticky dish
She found it sweet
To eat her wish...
Poetry by me, AJP

A different red squirrel came to our feeder today. I was surprised how calm she was. After I shot this picture through the window...I went outside later today when she came back to the feeder and she allowed me to get close to her to take more pictures...which is not always typical of this breed of squirrel ...As a rule they are high strung and skittish.

Thank you so much Davide Simone for your kind courtesy of the spotlight!!!

Thank you all do much for your kind words and a special thanks to Davide for
the spotlight. After I shot this picture through the window, she came back later and knocked the jelly dish upside down, but fortunately it was licked clean. I then went outside to refill it with more jelly and she amazingly allowed me to take a few pictures of her standing next to the upside down dish. This really surprised me as they are wild creatures by nature and I expected to see her take off like a rocket ship.

Red squirrels can become tame quite easily if they are being fed regularly by one person. I had one who would sit up right in front of me when I came out of the house. I would take photos of him and then leave sunflower seeds for him. He loved them, so he was always waiting for more. This was in the winter so he needed the food badly. I love your shot of this lovely squirrel!! I think if you continue to feed and photograph him, you have a friend for life!!!

Thank you all for your kind words...Sadly the gray squirrels have been picking fights
with the red squirrel and all is not peaceful in the wild kingdom .. .today I did not see her and I hope they haven't intimidated her to the point of no return...One thing I will say is that she knows how to fight back and can get very feisty but I can't say that I blame her when she is outnumbered..When she is not being hassled by the other breeds of squirrels she is very calm mannered and I could see where she could easily be tamed, Patty..She is an adorable little creature.
