This is my latest foster. My husband named him Tuco but we call him Li'l bit. He was pulled from the animal shelter in Warner Robins, Georgia. Li'l bit is approximately eight years old, weighs 6 pounds and was found wandering down the street. No one ever came in to claim him and we think we know why. We believe he has spent the majority of his life, in a cage breeding other tiny chihuahuas. When they didn't need him anymore, they dumped him. He has had no vet care and is in serious need of dental work on his last few remaining teeth. Sadly, he is heart worm positive. Li'l bit had forgotten how to smile. He did not wag his tail and he did not run to greet you when you walked in the door. He did cuddle though and loved a belly rub. Li'l bit has been with me for two weeks now. He is on treatment for heartworms and has had all his shots. Imagine how thrilled I was when he ran to the door, tail wagging to greet me yesterday. He will be going in to be fixed and have his dental work done on Monday. He will also be retested to see how his heartworm treatment is coming along. Now, if only I can get him house broken.

I only intended to foster this one until his vetting could be done and a forever home found but I have a feeling this one will be staying. He is grumpy and sweet and older dogs are very hard to place. I would only let him go to an older person anyway. He hasn't the heart for children or other dogs. He tolerates Kaylee and lucky for her, he hardly has teeth. LOL.

Cute portrait...You won him over, Regenia...with your tender loving care. I don't understand irresponsible people who dump their pets... thank goodness for people like you.

He is adorable. I grew up with chihuahuas, and have a great affinity for them. How anyone could "dump" one is beyond comprehension. You and Shane are wonderful to give this grumpy little guy a chance.

continued .. can't remember to not hit 'enter'. However, when you take something that is working and make it non-working, that is not 'fixing' it! ;-) er, in view of your initial description of the old fellow, grumpy and all, might I suggest a more fitting name .... how about Curly.
