Manufactured by The Oliver Typewriter Co. (1895-1928). Guess those are Edison's glasses too and that would be his copy of the American Machinists Handbook!

This image prompted some research. I was curious about Edison's age when he would have been using this. Oliver produced typewriters from 1895-1928. Edison life span 1847-1931. So, if Edison bought one of the first made, he would have been 52 or about the age I was when I finally decided I wanted to become computer literate. He was billiant, but there is still a learning curve. I know. I taught myself to type. Other interesting bits of Edison trivia: he was only 22 when he patented his electric vote recorder and stock ticker, and was 29 when he invented the phonograph. Compared to the 22-year-olds today... pretty amazing.

Bailey, you are amazing! Thanks for sharing your research. Wonder what other famous person might have owned an "Oliver" during that time ...?
