A Visit From A Friend
If you love an image (whether it's yours or someone else's) and want to make sure others get a chance to see it, you can “feature” it by choosing the “Spotlight” button.
When an image is Spotlighted, it receives enhanced visibility in premium spots throughout the site. Spotlighted images are rotated through these higher-visibility positions to ensure the best opportunity for the images to be seen by JPG users.
If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).

A VISIT FROM A FRIEND ~ A wee POEM
I had a friend come by today.
Sadly I knew she would not stay.
She was moving, house and all.
To where she moves, she did not say.
Just looking for a better day.
A day with sunshine all around,
and a special place on hallowed ground.
Thanks for your visit, I did say.
Can't you stay another day?
She looked at me, and did not speak.
I will let you think alone I said.
I took my leave and went inside.
Thinking again of the special friend,
I went outside all over again.
She was gone. I know not where.
I just know, she thought, she must move on.
I looked for her, then looked again.
No where could I find her on my lawn.
Another friend has come and gone.
I am sorry she left, but she made my day.
I am just so glad she stopped this day.
Thank you for the memories my Friend,
and if you can, please stop by again.

Does anyone know what kind of Turtle this is? I can not find it on the net. :-(
Yea Sarah you are correct!!
This is a note I got from Roger Clay of the Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries ~ Spanish Fort, Alabama.
"The turtle in question appears to be a box turtle. They can be quite variable in the colors and markings on the upper shell (carapace). This one is obviously quite bright on the carapace.
You mentioned you found it during a rain event and that is not uncommon to have box turtles move about during and after a rain.
Male box turtles typically have red eyes and in the photos you sent the eye appears brown. So you may have encountered a female before or after laying her eggs. "
Regards, Roger Clay

(Terrapene carolina) I think....
The last time a turtle stopped by was 5-28-2008. ( See pix ) It must have been a long walk. :-(
