......or is it? We think he needs to begin Weightwatchers! The colours on these little birds seem to be brighter in the cooler months. They hog all the positions around the feeding station and won't let the other garden birds get a look in.

    A very handsome specimen!! So nicely photographed. This is a bird that I am unfamiliar with.

    They are the size of a small sparrow, a sub-species from an Australian variety. As they colonised New Zealand naturally they are classified as a native species. Very prevelant in forests and gardens. Other names they are called by are White-eye or Silver-eye.
