This is my Golden Orb Weaver spider. ( A very nice guest)
She has a large web near the front door. She seems to have a rather large collection of snacks all bundled up on her right. Be careful on coming on my porch as her web is very strong. The females are very big and the males quite tiny.
July 21st, 2012 (her picture)
I did not see Mama Spider yesterday, last night or today. The winds were higher than usual and I was hoping she was, perhaps, hiding. But alas she is not back today either . I watched her many a night as she repaired her masterful beautiful web. I guess I can say as of today~ Aug 31~ she is
gone. :-( Her web is now 99% gone. I am very sorry. She was a good Spider.

Wow, this is on your porch!!! They do have strong webs, we used to run into them while motorcycling in the woods years ago. Fortunately for me, someone ahead got the privilage of encountering the web and spider. There was a lot of yelling going on : )

On the porch ... Once you run into one, you don't do it again. :-) Actually they catch many bugs in their nets. The fishers of the world. Net fishing.

Eeek! It does look enormous with long legs besides..Last night I didn't run into a spider but a bat got in the house and flew over my head while I was on the computer...You can believe I ducked my head down on the keyboard as low as I could get it,,,...I was afraid it would get tangled up in my hair...My husband chased it outside with a broom...Don't know how it got inside but they have their ways..
