[Looking west from the I-70 overpass at exit 254]
I can’t remember when I first saw the Colorado Rocky Mountains or what my reaction was. I am sure the “Front Range” came into view fifty miles out, as I was crossing the high-plains desert, which characterizes much of Eastern Colorado.
The Front Range holds the promise of what is to come. However, it is not until you are about 25 miles west of Denver that the Colorado Rockies come fully into view.
As you drive west on I-70 out of Denver, you begin to ascend . . . and ascend. As you approach Exit 254, you climb to the crest of a hill and there, before you, are the mountains!
This photo cannot do justice to the visual feast that is before you. To capture something of the view, I pulled off the Interstate, parked, and walked to the overpass. The fast moving traffic below (which caused the overpass to vibrate), the absence of guardrails, and the brisk wind added to the enjoyment.
It was a John Denver moment!
As always, thanks for stopping by.

And THAT'S why I live in the West! This is like the view I have every day, except we have 4 fewer lanes of traffic. A fantastic shot and view...welcome back to the world of JPG, where the new saying seems to be 'there's a theme for that'!!
