Let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them...Exodus 25: 8
How many times over
Does life pass us by
In front of our face?
When a Monarch butterfly
Gives sustenance to clover,
Whilst Queen Anne's Lace
Repeats itself along ditch banks.
Blessing God with thanks,
Are the songs of a bird
Just waiting to be heard...
A mother doe with fawn
Eating apples in the lawn...
Dropped from the trees,
Is another moment to seize...
E'en chipmunks and squirrels
Each in their own world
Has something good to offer
For the photographer.
Nature is an open book
If we take time to look....
Poetry by me AJP
When I was child of 7 years old, my families house burned to the ground and we lost my younger 5 year old brother due to the fire. I learned at a very young age that the things that we most cherish and love are sometimes snatched away from us in the blink of an eye. While I have never dwelled in lavishly built homes, I don't feel deprived...Nature my sanctuary, is where I find substance to build the meaning of life.
The houses I am showing here were constructed by Land Developers and are part of what we see across the field from our long driveway where there are rows of new houses similar to this image that I shot a few days ago up the road from our mail box...As lovely as these homes are, I are more impressed with the Queen Anne's Lace dotting the ditch banks along the sides of the road and the vastness of the sky with its canopy of clouds over the tops of these houses to complete the picture.
My husband and I have been power walking twice a day back and forth on our driveway since July 11th and now we have increased our walks to include a path mowed in the woods that averages out to 2 miles a day. We see butterflies flitting amongst us on our journey who appear happy we've joined them for a healthier lifestyle..A doe with two fawns ran in front of us last night on our walk that took me by surprise and I did not get a photo of them...This morning we saw a friendly couple with their overweight dog (who looked less than thrilled about having to walk up the road that I captured in this picture:) But I'll bet in the end it will benefit from the exercise as I hope we will too...

...the songs of a bird / Just waiting to be heard
I love the poem which adds to the shot a lot. It makes me see the two houses as if they were talking to each other.
