Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

Prepare thy work, and make it fit for thyself in the field...Proverbs 24: 27

As some of you know who come to my site, my husband and I have been power walking twice daily averaging 2 miles a day now to lose weight..and we are eating a healthier diet..

We've been walking on rough ground on our gravel driveway and through the woods, on a mowed path with sharp weeds sticking up and dodging prickly spruce tree branches through some of the path that we walk through...Not all fun and games...

We started this project on July 9th....I bought myself a pair of new jeans- shorts today and
a Route 66 name brand blouse set with a camisole that I am wearing on this self portrait ...but purposely did not buy them in the size that I wear now...I can't get the shorts zipped in front yet as they are only a size 8... I need to lose the flab on my upper arms for the blouse to fit better and in my mid section for the shorts to fit ...I am going to be 69 next month on Sept 5th and hopefully I'll be able to get into this outfit a little better by then... It's a goal to work for:)

Thank you Donald for your comment and encouragement...The worst thing that can happen
in this mission is that I could fail but I won't know unless I try. my best to accomplish what
    I set out to do...

I agree with Don, hang in there and reach your goal : ). I am working on my weight loss also. It is way to hot here to walk now so I am swimming for exercise. We are also eating a healthier diet. It is slow loosing the weight but it should stay off by maintaining what we are doing.

We recently read "The Weight Of The Nation" in which they said isolated populations around the world, before being introduced to Western diet had no diabetes, heart disease, or stroke.
What does this tell us about American diet? Your encouragement and kind words mean so
much to me...Thank you...I appreciate it.

Andrea, you look very pretty in this short genes and you look like a 19yrs old college going girl in this photo.

Andrea Petersen said (6 Aug 2012):

Rashmi...you are so sweet...The truth of the matter when I was a 19 year old college student I weighed 105 lbs ...I remember the weight came off then mostly because some of the starchy meals served in the dining room did not appeal to my taste during that time and..and I ate very little of it...while everyone else was gaining, I lost weight...and I also did not have money to buy snacks..I only went to college there for a year and a half. The shorts I am wearing here fits me from behind, but at 138 lbs they don't fit in the front which is the part I am not showing:)

I feel like my husband and I are working with you and your husband on a weight loss program. As I mentioned, we're power walking, too, and watching our diet. Keep up the great work. BTW, I weighed the same as you in college and for the same reason, plus I did loads of walking because of the distance between the old and new campus and played tennis.
