If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).

Sometimes you just need a little luck and a lot of memory card.
When I got to this spot I looked for a frame that I would like to see in the foreground of a lightning strike… were I to catch one. This seemed to be the best I could find.
The lightning was striking everywhere, but oddly to the left and right of my field of vision. Once in a while a small glimmer of a fork would appear in the far off distance.
That all said, I just kept shooting one shot after another, after another and another. After maybe 400 or so shots, this happened. I knew it was a good shot as soon as I saw the strike.
Like I said… a little bit of luck and a lot of memory card!
