"You are correct that the image portrays a personal struggle relating to an idea that someone or something of significance was once there but is no longer – symbolized by the empty space next to me. Your interpretation of regret I can absolutely see, along with such feelings of being overwhelmed, heartbreak, homesickness, or etc – based on ones own personal experiences. But for me, while I was editing this image, I related it to the feeling that I am letting something go and the struggles that relate to that, but also oddly the feeling of being content (or even excited) in seeing myself alone in the image. To clarify, by no mean do I feel or am alone, as my family and friends are absolutely amazing . The feeling of contentment/excitement I feel relates to the acknowledgement of areas of personal growth in my life and moving forward in to the new year in that mind set (symbolized by the directional light).

I realize the above description is still very broad – but the truth is it relates to a variety of feelings and experiences even for myself. But overall, and if I was to title this image it would be, The Morning of a New Year. "

I love the simplicity of this image. Yet it is still very thought provoking.
