It was the end of July and I was about to leave this little dusty town that had became my home. In the several months I had been living here I had become a family member at Shankar & Ranji home along their two sons as you can read about here http://jpgmag.com/stories/17812 .
So then, actually exactly a year ago, I was invited to join the family "pilgramage" to the first day of school, after the long summer vacation.
Some first graders were refusing to let go of their parents safe hand. Some shed tears. Many just climbed the stone stair case, some bare feet but with flowers in their hair, from the dusty courtyard full of yellow school buses into the green painted classrooms with solid wooden desks.
As Adhi finally sat in his new place by his old friends I captured him between two new/old classmate girls.
So happy new school year, this time around, Adhi. Mindum Sandipom.
