This is the very first long time exposure and light painting in which I portray the human spirit blessing the earth long after the body is gone.
Earlier in the day I created WOMB WITH A VIEW at the same location. For details on how I created this image, please go to:
This exposure was four hours in total and kickstarted my interest in light painting and in particular, developing my signature style in rendering transparent human forms integrated with settings in nature as part of my series and book to be: FROM ROCKS TO DNA: DANCING ON THE EDGE OF TIME.
Since this image was created on June 24, 1989 I have captured hundred's of model who were brought to me one way or another.
Since this image was created with the help of a bald and naked person, I prefer models who will pose in the nude as that gives the cleanest line to the human form.
Because of this, I have developed a humorous approach to getting models. I figure for a person to be bald, they have to be a bit ballsy and would probably go for modeling if approached right.
Now, wherever I see a bald person, I go up to them with a few samples of my work (made easier these days with a portfolio on my iPhone) and give them my line: "Excuse me, I'm a spirit body process aura photographer. My best models are bald and naked (I show them the photos) and YOU'RE HALF WAY THERE!" I say with a tongue in cheek smile.
My TWIN FALLS image was originally going to be with one such bald person, but when online to buy food to feed the models during the long exposure time of many hours, that includes hiking, waiting for the right shutter opening moment and then for the right posing moment, I noticed a bald guy on line in front of me. I ran my line and he immediately agreed. The couple you see by the waterfall is actually two men! LOL Divine Providence at work.
BTW, I am traveling and wanted to tell the story of my signature style featuring this image that I rez'ed up in photoshop. In the master print *and negative) you can see the star trails above the mountains.
In the A Divine Christmas Gift (I've Never Caught "A Fish" This BIG) photo essay.
