This was an historic log cabin moved to it's present location at the Courthouse Museum in Berrien Springs Michigan. Note the low ceiling, the cap and ball rifle over the mantle and the crocks in the other room.

There are elements of intrinsic beauty in the simplification of a house built on the log cabin idea.

At first I thought this was in a basement, but after reading your narrative, I see that it is a historic log cabin. It looks cozy and provides most necessities like a roof over head, fire for warmth and cooking. I see a cooking pot over the fire and another cooking pot ready to put on the hanger while the other one cools. Simplicity at its best - but I would hated to have had to cook back then and where is the bathroom! LOL : )

This was the deluxe cabin. It had a sleeping loft, windows, and three doors. The facilities were a way outside.

    Thanks Betty, Davide, and Fred.
Fred, we can again be proud when we have a true American in the President's office.
And hold politicans to their word. Most importantly, we can't be proud if we let the government oust God from everything. Ronald Reagan was right when he said "Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged."
