I wandered into this shop wit a
display of prewar mint classic comic books as well as less valuable contemporary ones. The proprietor, retired Chief Inspector Bill Teoh of Special Branch barely breaks even as a distributor, but he delights in discussing the early literary quality of early publications.
Bob Kane, creator of Batman, frequently used ancient Greek, Roman, and Scandinavian mythology for inspiration for
his stories. Inspector Teoh found them superior to modern
versions as learning tools. I did not see him when I visited Selegie Street last year. I hope he's still alive.
