I was about to take my son Daniel to school this morn, when I looked out my front window and saw a Black Bear in my front yard!! I ran to get my camera, shouting Black Bear to my son! It had walked across the street and into my neighbors back yard, so I followed it across the street, suddenly the bear turned and looked right at me, then it decided to climb up and over the back fence.
When I drove Daniel to school, I told him I was going back out to search for the bear, he said I was nuts! First I put up 'warning bear sighting' signs in the neighborhood children's park located in behind my home. However by the time I had gotten home, the bear was no where to be seen in the neighborhood and had probably made it's way up higher into the Sooke Hills, where they are now building a new subdivision.
