She was taking notes as she was reading, something I do when I'm reading books that are special to me in some way.
The tattered paperback, entitled "Coming of Age in Philosophy", belonged to her father. It was one of his text books when he was a freshman in college. She found it after he died from Multiple Sclerosis complications almost five years ago---she was a senior in high school.
"I like the subject matter, but he wrote stuff in the margins. It's nice to read it and see his perspective on it too."
