I don't know the name of this flower. A friend gave us the plant, and it blooms often. The blooms only last a few hours. If it is pollinated, a large seed tuber forms at the base of the flower. It is very beautiful, but short lived.

I believe that this is a double purple trumpet bloom. I am adding a link for you to see the bloom in a nursery. A woman a couple of blocks away from me has lots of these purple trumpets in her yard. I like to stop and talk with her when she is outside. She lets me take photos of her flowers.
