Through the trees you see piles of what looks like ice and snow...almost like the plows leave at the edge of the parking lots. The cold temps, the not yet frozen lake, and the waves work together to form ice dunes on the shore. Although people sometimes climb on them, they are dangerous and unstable, often with air pockets under the surface. People have fallen through and you never really know if you will fall through to sand or, more likely, icy lake water.

Just.... such a great shot for so many reasons. An emptiness and stillness in a place meant for it's social setting. Sigh.
