One of theworkshop participants asked me whyI had my lens hood on. I told her it was to reduce lens flare. “ What is lens flare?” she asked. I placed her between me and the sun and took this acklit photo t show her an example of lens flare.

Lens flare is not good or bad in itself. Like other things the camera sees, you can embrace it or erase it.
