3 months old Elma came to icddr,b as she was suffering from Diarrhoea and Hyponatremia (low blood sodium). Her mother died at the time of her birth. The woman carrying her is her aunt.
I took this while I was doing an assignment for the annual report of icddr,b. Each day More than 700 people admit in icddr,b with symptoms of different gastrointestinal diseases and 70 % of them are children. Elma's mother died because she was only 15 years old. icddr,b treat these people at free of cost. Most of the icddrb,s patient are from the very poor community of our society. And thus icddr,b providing major support in the health sector of Bangladesh.
Each year, icddr,b treats more than 110,000 patients, 35,000 of whom would die without treatment. ICDDR,B depends on donations to continue this lifesaving treatment. We depend on you to be able to continue saving lives.
