Terror shall make him afraid on every side and shall drive him to his feet...Job 18: 11
Oh how he tried like everything
To make his opponent terrorized....
The nuthatch spread his wings
Opening them bigger sized....
Flaring them side to side.
Scaring the Downy with shock
Wouldn't get him off the suet block!
Poetry by me AJP
The Downy woodpecker got intimidated by the white breasted nuthatch today who wasn't successful in trying to frighten his opponent off the suet block... The Downy just gave him a dirty look. .It is interesting to see how nature handles the bullies. It was admirable how the Downy held his position without fighting. The impatient Nuthatch did return later and got his share of the suet block too..
I shot this through the window under very bright lighting conditions and had problems with reflective glare on the glass..so softened the edges with a special effects filter in photo shop....I wished the lighting could have been better but had to go with what I had to get the picture...
