Q: I am really into my wildlife photography but cannot afford a super zoom lens, I have a 300mm and am considering a teleconvertor. Has anybody had a experience with these and would you recommend them?

A: Do you know?

Ring-Billed Gulls are "three year" gulls. That means they go through 3 cycles before getting to their adult plumage. This gull is very similar to the larger Herring Gull.

Love the whites and grey of the bird against the black background. Nice!

Hi Donna... I used spot metering and a high shutter speed in broad daylight with a flash so the bird is well lit and the background got dark. I have a Herring Gull shot I'll upload soon where I did the same thing.
