Some Gulf Fritillary Butterflies do not make it. This one had its feeding tube (probiscus) wrongly stuck to the shell of the chrysalis, which you can see is also wrapped around the stem of the Passion Vine. I felt very sad when I discovered I could do nothing to save this butterfly. This Gulf Fritillary Butterfly lived her entire life in a Passion Vine in Tarzana,CA
