I don’t see this as a contrast between the statue and the disabled man in the wheelchair. On the contrary, the statue is a metaphor for the man’s spirit, his determination to overcome his limits.

Great shot. I also see the statue looking to heaven while the man only dreams of being free to be part of the world outside as he gazes out the window. Reminds me of Laslow's hierarchy of needs. The statue has attained physical perfection so dreams of a higher existence while the man with his physical challenges still wishes to attain something more earthly.
