I was always under the impression snakes had poor eyesight and went after their prey with the heat sensor in their tongue.
When I came up to the enclosure for this guy, I knet down to get a shot and he struck at the glass, right at my head. Of course, me being totally un-nerved, I almost fell on my bum…….Went back to get another shot and WHAM – another strike. If I’d had my wits about me, it would have been a fabulous open mouth capture but not the case.
I got my shot and left him alone for fear it would hurt itself striking at the glass.
This was as good as it got.
