I don't usually see this many male pine grosbeaks together. They tend to flock together separately from the females and juveniles. This really was a rare sighting of so many males together and since they are very flighty birds it wasn't hard to get a few wing shots. They sing constantly from the tree tops, a sweet complex melody that you quickly learn to recognize. They are quite tame once they become familiar with a person but unfortunately we only see them in winter.
