Some of the nightsticks I have turned out on my Shop Smith lathe. I am nowhere near the craftsman that John is but I did make several nightsticks for the sheriff's department.

    Top is pine. More for a demo than police use, I think the wood is too soft for hard heads.
    Middle is walnut.
    Bottom is oak.
    The walnut came from a salvaged tree limb I drug over from the construction of I-64 behind my house.
